Scared Journalists Can’t Cover What Pentagon Confirmed In 2012: America Created ISIS

A recently declassified Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) report has been virtually blacked out by corporate propangada media as it exposed American War Hawks’ role in the rise of global terror outfit Islamic State and proved that the growth and expansion of ISIS was a direct result of arms being sent by the United States to anti-Assad Islamists to overthrow the Assad regime in Syria.

The DIA documents circulated in August 2012 state that an ‘Islamic State’ is desired in Eastern Syria to effect the West’s policies in the region. The newly declassified report admits that for “the west, gulf countries, and turkey [who] support the [Syrian] opposition… there is the possibility of establishing a declared or undeclared salafist principality in eastern Syria (Hasaka and Der Zor), and this is exactly what the supporting powers to the opposition want, in order to isolate the Syrian regime…”.

The declassified secret document obtained by the public interest law firm, Judicial Watch, shows that Western governments deliberately allied with Al-Qaeda and other Islamist extremist groups and the ISIS jihadists were created and funded as a tool to achieve a political goal – depose Syria’s president Bashir al-Assad who for years had stood in the way of a critical Qatari natural gas pipeline, which could dethrone Russia as Europe’s dominant source of energy and combat expanding Iranian influence in the region.

The 7-page DIA document notes that the “rise of the insurgency in Syria” has increasingly taken a “sectarian direction,” attracting diverse support from Sunni “religious and tribal powers” across the region. In a section titled ‘The Future Assumptions of the Crisis,’ the DIA report predicts that while Assad’s regime will survive, retaining control over Syrian territory, the crisis will continue to escalate “into proxy war.” The document also recommends the creation of “safe havens under international sheltering, similar to what transpired in Libya when Benghazi was chosen as the command centre for the temporary government.”

“The secret Pentagon document provides extraordinary confirmation that the US-led coalition currently fighting ISIS, had three years ago welcomed the emergence of an extremist ‘Salafist Principality’ in the region as a way to undermine Assad,” award winning journalist and scholar Dr. Nafeez Ahmed said adding when he spoke to national newspaper interested in story – they concluded it was too ‘difficult’ to run ‘at this late stage’.

In an interview with Josh Cook of Truth In Media, Ahmed stated:

“I spoke to a major national newspaper here in the U.K. and what was interesting was they were quite sympathetic to the line of inquiry, but just felt like they couldn’t cover it. And it wasn’t that they were told they couldn’t cover it. The journalist that I spoke to who is a senior journalist that I have a lot of respect for was very sympathetic to what I was saying. He literally said to me look – I actually could sense that there was this fear that I shouldn’t be talking about this, this is going to far – is the document really strong enough? He didn’t feel confident.

“There is almost like an unspoken recognition I think in the mainstream media that there are certain things we are not allowed to say. The idea that something as despicable as ISIS could actually been foreseen or facilitated deliberately, which is really what is implied by this report quite clearly.

“It’s almost too much,” he said. “It goes against the grain of so much we take for granted. So many assumptions about not just American, but Western kind of supremacy and the benevolence of our government that we would never do anything like this … it’s a big kind of leap.

“On the one hand I think that journalists are scared and worried about pushing boundaries to that extent. It does raise a concern that there is an absolute silence on this issue, especially in the English speaking media. It raises real questions about what is behind that silence?”

The 2012 DIA document is an Intelligence Information Report and not a “finally evaluated intelligence” assessment, but its contents are vetted before distribution. The report was circulated throughout the US intelligence community, including to the State Department, Central Command, the Department of Homeland Security, the CIA, FBI, among other agencies.

The revelations contradict the official line of Western governments on their policies in Syria, and raise disturbing questions about secret Western support for violent extremists abroad, while using the growing threat of terror to justify mass surveillance and crackdowns on civil liberties at home.
