The group No New Animal Lab is protesting the University of Washington’s construction of a $124 million animal research laboratory on the southwest side of campus.
Protesters gather on Red Square at the University of Washington hoping to stop the research animal lab under construction on campus. Hundreds of activists with the No New Animal Lab (NNAL) campaign, along with animal advocates, grassroots organizers, and the public will converge on the University of Washington estimating 250 in the rally and march.
The group’s aim is to pressure the contractor, Skanska USA, to pull out of the project, stopping construction. The protest on Friday was also designed to disrupt Dawg Daze, an annual celebration welcoming students to campus.
